Francis A. Roy, 92, of Windham, passed away surrounded by those who loved him on February 17, 2019 at Douglas Manor. He was the son of the late Louis and Theolymbe (Lord) Roy.
Francis worked at UCONN for over 30 years, starting as a mailman and eventually becoming a typesetter. He enjoyed cooking, and he was the master of Crock Pot recipes. He also had a massive sweet tooth and was an avid baker. Francis enjoyed his daily walks around Willimantic and taking care of his house plants, including his African Violet collection which he shared with many friends.
Francis is survived by his good friend Robert Scutt, cousin Pat Riel, as well as step-nieces.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Roger and Raymond Roy.
There will be no calling hours. Francis’ Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Mary Church, 1600 Main St., Coventry, CT, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Alzheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
