Eunice (Jacobson) Galligan, 84, of Storrs, died of natural causes Monday, January 7, 2019. Eunice grew up in Chicago and graduated from Senn High School in Chicago before attending UCLA where she received an undergraduate degree and masters in English.  She had a passion for teaching, education and helping students develop their own passion for literature.  Eunice taught high school English for 25 years at Granada Hills High School in Los Angeles, CA, and later taught writing at Central Connecticut State University for more than 15 years.  She was a hit socially as she was skilled at quoting Shakespeare in any situation. Eunice enjoyed her family, animals, traveling, the arts, and watching sports. She especially enjoyed watching UCLA football and basketball and loved the Los Angeles Lakers. Eunice and her husband James enjoyed traveling to Europe. Every year they traveled the world visiting museums, immersing themselves in the local cultures and eating local specialties.  They visited Ireland several times and loved the James Joyce walking tour.  In 1987, she married her husband of more than 30 years and moved to Storrs where she enjoyed the UCONN women’s Huskies and attending Broadway plays in New York City.  In addition to her husband James, she is survived by a son Mark and granddaughter Madeleine Teague.  There are no calling hours.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, burial to follow at Storrs Cemetery.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
