Emma Jean Stigler

Sister Emma Jean Stigler, 73 of Willimantic, CT died peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Windham Memorial Hospital. Emma was born on March 11, 1945 to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Susie Thomas in Hollandale, MS.

Emma and her family relocated in 1976 to the Willimantic, CT area and she became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and became active for the Lord, serving on the Usher Board and becoming a member of the Pastor’s Aid Society. She was employed at the University of CT for over 25 years before retiring.

Emma was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her 5 children, Joyce Stigler, Bernice (Leon) Wilson, Barbara Wilson, Linda Stigler and Anthony (Vicky) Stigler; grandchildren, Tonia Stigler, Tyronica (Ronsy) Perez, Jessica Esparra, Sherman Stigler, Jo Wilson, Ariel Esparra, James Smith, Charles Jamal Wilson, Kobe Stigler, Anthony Stigler Jr., Emma Stigler, Javon Stigler, Amaya Stigler, Angelise Martinez; great grandchildren, Tysheika Perez, Ronsy Perez Jr., Reshante Perez, Tatyanna Perez, Saniya Stigler, Julius Wilson, Emanuel Relliford; brother in law, Marvin Mitchell. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and devoted church family and friends.

Along with her parents, Emma was predeceased by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Stigler; her son, Peter Stigler; sisters, Bobbie Neal Vassar, Ruby Lee Mitchell; brothers, James Stigler, Harris Stigler; niece, Clara Belle Williams.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the First Congregational Church 199 Valley St. Willimantic, CT the Funeral Service will start at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at the New Willimantic Cemetery.
