Welcome to the memorial page for

Emma T. Kuchta

February 18, 1922 ~ May 12, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Emma Trotta Kuchta, widow of the late Francis Joseph Kuchta, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 12, 2017, at the Saint Joseph Living Center in Windham, Connecticut. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut, the daughter of Louis and Aurora Trotta, and one of seven sisters. She had a life filled with many friends and interests. She enjoyed sewing, growing orchids, gardening, cooking and caring for her grandsons, and spending time near the ocean. She was a master bridge player who taught her family and friends to love the game as well, but never rising to her level of expertise. She was also fortunate to travel a great deal, including destinations such as Spain, Italy, France, the Caribbean, Canada, as well as many national sites. But the center of her life always revolved around her family events and celebrations, and she taught her daughters kindness, generosity, and forgiveness by her example and kind spirit. She was a sixty year communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic.

She leaves her two daughters Kathryn K. Leahy and her husband Edward Leahy of Mansfield Center, and Karen K. Filchak and her husband John Filchak of Brooklyn, Ct. She also leaves behind the loves of her life, her beloved grandsons Kevin and Konner Filchak with whom she had a very special bond that only a grandmother can nurture. She is survived by three sisters; Rose Franco (her twin), Ida Pedrolini, and Josephine Poliner. She was predeceased by three of her sisters; Jane Satagaj, Jessie Trotta, and Ernestine Messer.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers who provided support and care over these past four years, especially thanking the staff of St. Joseph’s Living Center for their kindness and understanding these last five months. Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Potter Funeral Home on Route 195 in Willimantic. Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church on Friday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. Please go directly to St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Center Cemetery.
