Dana E. Burton

Dana E. Burton, 83 of Columbia (formally of New Canaan, CT), beloved husband of Joanne for 57 years passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Dana was born in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1934, to the late Paul and Helen Burton. He leaves behind his wife, Joanne; son, Paul Burton and wife Heidi of Hebron; daughter, Cynthia Burton of Columbia; sister, Paula Burton of Wellesley, MA and grandchildren Andrew and Lauren of Hebron.

Dana served in the US Navy as a Corpsmen on the USS Coral Sea. He attended Boston University and Bentley College, he worked for 20 years in the Steel Industry as a Sales Manager for US Steel and Republic Steel before retiring to pursue a family business with his wife Joanne and his daughter Cynthia, in Greenwich and New Canaan for 20 years.

He moved to Columbia in 2002 to be closer to his grandchildren and to relax and enjoy retirement. Dana enjoyed reading, movies and following sports. He loved walking his two dogs and frequent getaways to Maine.

Visiting hours will be Friday December 8, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 328 CT Route 66, Columbia, CT. Final interment will be private and held at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dana’s name be made to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, 167 Route 66, PO Box 26, Columbia, CT 06237.
