Beverly Hamel Obituary

Beverly Ann Hamel, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 14, 2019 at the Village at Waterman Lake in Greenville, Rhode Island. She was born in Willimantic on February 7, 1928 to the late Mary (Cummings) and Clinton James.

Beverly lived in Mansfield for 60 years before moving to Brooklyn, CT and then to Greenville, Rhode Island. She worked in the Purchasing and Accounting Departments at the University of Connecticut for over 20 years before retiring in 1989. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Heart Association. She was devoted to her family and, until her illness, led an active life. She will be greatly missed by both family and friends whose lives she touched.

She is predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Leonard Hamel. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Konicki of Rhode Island; son, James Hamel and his wife Lenore of Killingly, CT; sister, Janet Landry and her husband Louis of North Franklin, CT; two grandchildren, Sara Argiro and her husband Brian, and Benjamin Konicki and his wife Lilly; and three great grandchildren: Harrison, Liliana, and Colton Argiro.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:30 at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, 945 Storrs Rd. Mansfield, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at the Village at Waterman Lake-Courtyard for the wonderful and loving care they gave Bev these past five years.
