Ashley Norma Ann (Pelletier) Key

February 13, 1983 ~ May 6, 2018 (age 35) 35 Years Old

Ashley (Pelletier) Key, 35, of Lebanon passed out of our arms in her battle against cancer on May 6, 2018 at Backus Hospital in Norwich, beloved wife, mother and daughter to Brian Key and their son, Justin Key, 5, also of Lebanon. She was born at Windham Memorial Community Hospital in Willimantic to Ronald & Sandra (Guerraz) Pelletier of Lebanon, on February 13, 1983. Ashley pursued her passion for animals through an Associates of Science in Animal Husbandry at UCONN. She also pursued her love for all things natural and crafty through her business Pure and Simple Charm and had a loyal following.  Survivors include her grandmothers Norma (Guerraz) Clarke of Chaplin, Annette (Toussaint) Pelletier of Willimantic.  Maternal aunts and uncles, Albert and Barbara (Guerraz) Ladd of Byron, Maine, Robert and Rhonda (Owen) Guerraz of Killingly, Marcel and Joanne (Rondeau) of Chaplin.  Cousins, Kristian (Guerraz) Wells, Brian & Katerina Guerraz, Keith & Jennifer Guerraz, Joshua & Marissa Guerraz, Chontell Guerraz, Jocelyn Guerraz, Steven & Michelle Ladd and their families. Her paternal aunts and uncles, Bruce and Linda (Pelletier) Couture of Brooklyn, Kenneth and Linda (Quintana) of Hampton, and Lawrence and Carol (Gasper) Pelletier of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Cousins Jeremy & Edward Hoebich -Couture, Jason & Jennifer Couture, Kyle & Jennifer Pelletier, Michael & Melissa Pelletier-Rodriguez, David & Kristen Balyeat, Brock & Carley Matthews and Frank & Candace Dravecky and all their families.  Survivors also include her “creatures”- horses, Remedy and Dancer, dog, Boone and a host of feathered friends.  She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Gaston Guerraz of Chaplin and Maurice Pelletier of Willimantic, and the many creatures that were lucky enough to be included in her life.  Ashley was known as a lover of animals, an outstanding mother and awesome wife, a treasured daughter, granddaughter and niece. Her beautiful blue eyes, incredible smile and sweet soul were her trademarks. She loved to be outdoors amongst her horses and gardens. Trips to the beach always soothed her soul. Trips to Maine and Colorado as well. Time spent with her husband and son out of doors was treasured. She never met an animal that she didn’t like, especially horses. She gave her love, time and attention to all freely…family, friends and creatures.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be held for friends and family on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018, at 2:00pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Hall, located at 328 Village Hill Rd, Lebanon, CT 06249.  Mother’s Day is the most appropriate day to honor and celebrate her life and as she would have wished, children are welcome to attend.  A special thanks to the staff of Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology as well as the Critical Care Unit staff and Staff of A2 at Backus Hospital. The family appreciates your efforts and kindness shown to Ashley in her time of need.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Ashley’s name to High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, 36 Town Woods Road, Old Lyme, CT  06371, www.highhopestr.org or any animal rescue you like.  Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality. She is riding on her horse Zeke, wind blowing through her hair, free of pain, with Moxie, her beloved lab, running at their side.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
