I am so sorry for your loss. He was my high school teacher. He was the best. I can hear him laugh. He made a difference! He was just the best ever. We went to school everyday because of him. He certainly changed us. Forever loved and missed. RIP Mr. Hanson you were the greatest!!!!

My condolences to the Hanson family. I have fond memories of going to school with Tony (Driggs School) and watching him play ball for Holy Cross. His family's store was like a second home to me on Bronson St., in Waterbury. It was the neighborhood place to be. Sending prayers for you to find comfort in your memories.

I would like to pass on our clubs condolences (Tyrone Towers / Dungannon Bastetball Club). Tony played and coached for our club back in the early 80s. Even to this day he is held in great esteem. He will never be forgot and lives on in many of our hearts.
The world has lost one of the good guys. RIP Tony.

To the Hanson Family my deepest condolences.
I was blessed to be knighted by Tony with a nickname in my sophmore season ( one that I affectionately cling to these 4 decades later), the same season of his record breaking scoring accent to the top.

Kind, genuine and caring only start the words to identify Tony. Words serve only a peak into the impact I witnessed that Tony had on those he touched. To be around Tony was to know the joy of those true human moments of joy.

Tony I will miss you but you will never be forgotten.

GOD has added to His roster an artist of the hardwood. May GOD's gentle embrace give your soul rest int the same way as our hands clapped to give you our appreciation of the pictures you painted for our amazement.

GOD be with you throught the eternity of time.

Tony (T) your spirit will live with us all, always.

I met Tony at Uconn, and occasionally bump into him out on the town. One of the most genuine and kind people you would ever meet, not only was he one of my heroes on the basketball floor, he also achieved that through being a standup human being in every aspect.
I was honored to have known Tony and will always remember his kind words and awesome smile .

Rest in peace Tony. I cherish the memories of sitting next to you in homeroom for our four years together at Holy Cross, and our times of enjoyment struggling to pronounce French correctly in class. You were the most humble of stars and the kindest of people. Waterbury is proud to be your home, and we will all miss you terribly.

I knew Tony from Holy Cross. Tony almost always had that smile on his face except on the court. His success never seemed to go to his head. Humble and affable are two great words to describe Tony. We crossed paths from time to time after HC and he always stopped to talk for a few minutes. The world is a little sadder without you my friend. Rest in peace.

My dearest uncle Tony, and God father. I will forever cherish the moments we shared, and our conversations during our visits when you traveled to CT. You were always there anytime I called on you. Such a humble, and chill person. The kind of guy every man wanted to be like, and every women waned to marry. A great father, uncle, friend, and mentor. Everyone wanted a piece of you, and there was only but, so much to give. However, you made sure than when it was important. That when it mattered. You were present. I will never forget the bond we shared because it began with my parents Derryl and Carmen Hanson at UCONN in 76'. Go be the Angel you were destined to become. Please watch over me and the rest of the Hanson family.

Your niece, and God daughter, Leshan Hanson

When I was growing up in Coventry, the high school had one of the first basketball courts with lights for night play. Tony used to come from UConn and play in our games. He was a great role model who exhibited kindness and care. I learned a great deal about basketball and the importance of education from him. Many, many thanks Tony for your example...I still carry some of the things you taught me to this day. Rest in peace my friend. Joe Tomanelli
