Anne T. (Olenick) Whitmore, 95, of Mahtomedi, MN (formerly Windham, CT) died peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2019 surrounded by family. She was born September 12, 1923 in Lebanon, CT, the daughter of Mike Olenick and Anna Kraut Olenick of Lebanon, Connecticut. She was married to her loving husband Real B. Whitmore for 61 years. Real predeceased her on September 11, 2006.
As a young woman Anne worked at the American Thread Co. where she met her future husband, Real. She was devoted to her family for whom she made wonderful meals that featured outstanding pierogies, stuffed cabbage, and pies. Every visit to the Whitmore home through the years was an event and a treat. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cake decorating, and walking.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne, her daughter, Dolores Wholey and children Anna (Drew) Kalnow, Fiona, and William (Emily); her daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Sullivan with their children Ryan, and Katelyn (Timothy) Wells; and her son, James (Cindy) Whitmore with their children Leo, Nolan, and Audrey. Anne was also blessed with four beautiful great-grandchildren: Teddy and Sophia Kalnow, and Eva and Sam Wholey. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Anne was predeceased by five brothers: Steve, Lawrence, Nicholas, Leon, and Michael Olenick, Jr., and five sisters: Mary Willis, Katie Bedard, Sophie Stevens, Vera Michniewski, and Josephine Mathieu. Anne was also predeceased on February 6 of this year by her beloved son-in-law, Douglas Wholey.
Anne’s family will welcome visitors on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic, CT between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. that will be held at St. Mary Church, 57 Valley St., Willimantic, CT. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rein in Sarcoma (reininsarcoma.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
