Welcome to the memorial page for

Ann E. (Pliska) Pudelkiewicz

November 19, 1929 ~ September 12, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Ann Pudelkiewicz, 87, of Willington, CT, passed away unexpectedly at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.  Ann was raised in Oil City, PA, and attended Slippery Rock University for her BS in Physical Education with a minor in Biological Sciences. Her brother, Stanley, helped decide her major as she loved sports. She earned her Master’s degree over 5 summers from Indiana University in Health and Physical Education. Ann loved teaching PE at Cranberry Junior/Senior High School in PA. Ann met Walter Pudelkiewicz, a WWII Radio Officer in the Merchant Marines and fellow Oil City resident, married, and became parents to a daughter Ann Marie and a son, John. Ann and Walter celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary in 2006, and Walter died shortly thereafter.  Ann was known for her sharp, crazy sense of humor, and was a vital force within her family and her friends and staff at the Mansfield Center. Kasey, her granddaughter, is also blessed with that sense of humor, and will carry on the legacy. Ann had a great love for all things UCONN. She loved going to the games with her granddaughter, Kelly, who is a student there, and UCONN was an integral part of her family-her husband was an Associate Professor there, her son John is employed there, and her grandson Tommy is a student there. Ann considered her children Ann and John her greatest achievement, and her grandchildren her greatest blessings. Ann absolutely loved living at Mansfield Center-especially the caring staff that she considered extended family, and treasured the friends she made there. Ann lives on in all who were fortunate to know her.

Ann is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Ann Phillips and her husband, Roger and granddaughters Kelly and Kasey Phillips of Ashford; and her loyal and devoted son John Pudelkiewicz and his wife Irene and a grandson Thomas Pudelkiewicz of Tolland.  She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Anna Pliska, her husband Walter Pudelkiewicz, a brother Stanley Pliska, and her sister Mildred Parks.  Ann’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:00am at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, with her Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00am.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Road, Ashford, CT 06278.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
