Anita (Valente) Eichner

October 5, 1931 ~ March 17, 2019 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Anita F. (Valente) Eichner, 87, of Storrs, loving wife of the late Frank Joseph Eichner, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Alphonso and Emilia (Rampellini) Valente. Anita and her family moved to the Storrs area in 1951.  Anita was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, Manchester Community College and the University of Connecticut. She worked for many years as a secretary in the UConn School of Engineering and UConn School of Education. Later she became a homemaker, making sure her family was loved, supported and taken care of. Anita enjoyed watching UConn Basketball games on TV and was an avid gardener. She was a member of Wycliffe Associates and Habitat for Humanity. Anita and her late husband, of 67 years, Frank Eichner, were both long time members of Baptist Fellowship Church in Columbia, CT.  Anita is survived by two daughters, Debra Millette and husband Raymond of Columbia, Brenda Ballard and husband Mark of Windham Center; son David Eichner and wife Patricia of Storrs; five grandchildren, Eric Millette of Columbia, Stephanie Miles, Jr. and husband Ron of Columbia, Gregory Eichner of Manchester, Kathryn Eichner of Coventry, Johanna Eichner of Storrs, and a great-grandson Jack of Columbia; a brother Henry Valente and wife Carlisle of Malakoff, Texas; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Anita will be greatly missed by her friends and family.  There are no calling hours.  A private graveside service will be held at Storrs Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Baptist Fellowship Church, 195 Rte. 6 In Columbia.
