Alan “Al” Pierce Farrington, 63, of Columbia, CT, died peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2019. He was born September 10, 1955 in Lansdale, PA to Lula (Hayman) Farrington and

the late Albert S. Farrington.  Alan served 9 years with the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate, First Class, serving on carrier ships including the USS Lexington CV-16 and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN-69. His career included 41 years in the nuclear field as an Assistant Outage Manager, Joint Information Center Manager, and SRO Certified Senior Instructor.

Alan’s interests included traveling with his family and spending time outdoors hunting, camping, boating, kayaking and carpentry. He was a past Master of the Hiram Lodge #136 F. & A. M. in Fulton, NY. He was a member of Media Temple Shriners in Watertown, NY.  His greatest pride was providing for his family.

He was a man who lived life to the fullest and counted his blessings every day, most importantly his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Noreen (Nuhfer) Farrington R.N., married 39 years. His children are Barbara Nason of Seattle, WA; Garrett Gervais (Alison) of Vista, CA; U.S. Coast Guard, Chief Petty Officer Joanna Moran (Will) of Wilmington, NC; and Andrew Farrington (Lindsay) of Blackwood, NJ. His greatest treasures included his eight grandchildren Elijah (12); Mason (8); Jackson (7); Dexter (7); Coralyn (6); Elyana (4); Lydia (3); and Ezra (2). He is also survived by his siblings, of Maine, Lynne Geiger; Robert Farrington (Lisa); and Dianne Farrington; his mother-in-law, of Columbia, Nancy S. Nuhfer (T. Purvins); brother-in-law Marshall A. Nuhfer (Jeanne); and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and longtime friends.

Alan’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3:00pm. Reception to follow.
