Adelaide Clementine (Koczera) Corcoran

December 7, 1922 ~ June 3, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Adelaide C. Corcoran, 94, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, June 3, 2017. She was born December 7, 1922 in Newington, CT to the late Michael Joseph Koczera and Theresa Roman Koczera. She was one of ten children raised in Newington, CT.  A graduate of Newington High School, Adelaide went on to graduate from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked at Hartford Hospital where she met Raymond W. Corcoran, and they married in 1954. They then settled in Mansfield, CT where she raised her two daughters and returned to work at Windham Hospital. As a retiree, she was active in the Clan Ross Bagpipe band, the First Church of Christ Congregational, the Mansfield Senior Choir, and at WAIM. Adelaide enjoyed gardening, sewing, making jams, cooking for family, and catching up on her favorite PBS shows. Her wit and quick sense of humor were enjoyed by all who knew her.  Adelaide was predeceased by her husband Raymond, her sisters Stella, Olga, Mary, Helen, Irene and her brothers Lucian, Michael, John, and Adam. She leaves behind her daughters, Rita Corcoran Stoltz and her husband Joseph Stoltz of Old Saybrook, CT, and Teresa Corcoran and her husband John Grieb of Wellfleet, MA, her five grandchildren, Sam, Nate, Katie, Nadia, and Vika, and her great-granddaughter Shannon. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00pm at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 549 Storrs Road, Mansfield Center, CT, 06250 with luncheon to follow.
