Thomas Edward Lemire

February 23, 1947 — May 10, 2014

Thomas Lemire, 67, of North Windham, passed from this life on May 10, 2014. Tom (Tommy, Grumpa, affectionately known as RED) was born in Providence, RI on February 23, 1947. He married his wife, Sandra (Church) Lemire in August of 1979. They were blessed with two children, daughter Jessica of Mansfield, who married Jonathan Leonard and son Braden of Mansfield. He also leaves two brothers, Don and Ed Lemire and Ed's wife, Debbie Lemire, all of Cranston, RI. He also leaves two grandchildren, Alessandra and Aidan Leonard of Mansfield. Tom worked all his life in the insurance industry in which he was greatly respected, retiring as a Corporate Insurance Underwriting Manager from W, K, F & C Agency. He served in the RI Air National Guard 1966-1974. He was an active member of First Congregational Church of Windham where he humbly, joyfully served as Deacon, Youth Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Chair of Finance and Clerk. He also recently served as a volunteer at Windham Hospital and in the past as Asst. Coach at the WYO. RED (Retired & Extremely Dangerous) loved sports, especially the Red Sox, NE Patriots and UCONN basketball. His heart was on the beach on Cape Cod and enjoyed kayaking, fishing, golfing, playing cards with his special buddies. He had a deep tender heart for children and adored Allie and Aidan who will miss their Grumpa. Known as a practical joker to his countless friends, he always had a quick comeback and a mile long grin. Our deeply devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend will be sorely, painfully missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday May 18th at 3:00pm at First Congregational Church of Windham, intersection of Rte. 14 and Rte. 203 in Windham Center. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The First Congregational Church of Windham, PO Box 102, Windham, CT 06280-0102 in Tom's memory.
