Nathaniel Manning Jr., 81 of North Franklin, passed away May 26th, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Nathaniel ?Sonny? Manning was born to Nathaniel ?Deac? Manning and Helen Tompkins in Franklin, CT. Sonny graduated from Windham Technical High School and served 4 years in the US Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He worked at Kahn Tractor & Equip and worked for United Parcel Service for 38 years as a tractor trailer driver/trainer and received their highest safety award. He loved to be with his family and friends in Vermont where he was an avid fisherman, snowmobiler and ATV rider. He was a big Yankee fan. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy Smith Manning; his two children, Lisa Rogers of Waterford and Tim Manning of North Franklin as well as his two adored grandsons, Troy and Austin Rogers of Waterford. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Manning of Thompson; his sister, Carol Coreard of Maine, both of whom he enjoyed taking sightseeing trips with, and his sister, Audrey Dodds of Maine. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Pautipaug Cemetery in Franklin.
