Gary D. Maheu, 55, of Lebanon, died unexpectedly on Sunday Jan. 18, 2009 at Windham Hospital after having a heart attack at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1953 in Willimantic . Gary had been employed for twenty seven years at Electric Boat in Groton. He was an active member of Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311 and served as its' permittee. Gary had been active in sports, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a NY Yankees fan. He was predeceased by his mother Virginia (Vargas) Maheu and a sister Vanessa Maheu. He is survived by a daughter Nicole Maheu and a son Christopher Maheu both of Lebanon; his father Raymond Maheu and his wife Rosemary of Colchester; a sister Grace Bianchi and her husband Dennis of Burlington; a niece Kimberly Howland and her husband Kevin of Somerset, MA; a nephew Chad Bianchi of Plainville, his fiancAC.e Ann Marie Roberts of Coventry, two stepchildren, Casey and Jason Vertefeuille; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday Jan. 21st between 5:00 and 8:00pm. Cremation will take place on Thursday. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:30am, prior to burial with his mother and sister in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
