Kimberly Sprague Obituary

Kimberly "Kim" Sprague, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. Born on February 12, 1951, at the Chelsea Naval Base.

Raised by his mother Eva and Grandma Colburn he spent his early childhood on Grandma’s farm in Hampton, CT. When he was 9 Eva married Saverio LaTerra and they moved to Montville. As a young adult Kim’s life was filled with the thrill of building race cars and the roar of engines at the racetrack, where he spent many cherished moments with his late friend Moose Huitt. As time went on, his love for the outdoors shone through his passion for hunting on his property, a tradition he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Kim's feasts and love for storytelling were the heart of many gatherings, where his tales of generations past would captivate all those around him, even as they patiently awaited the next chapter through his long pauses.

A devoted family man, Kim was the loving husband of Tina Sprague, and together enjoyed raising Emma McGrath and Elise Sprague who were his pride and joy for the last decade of his life.

Kim's life was also marked by a profound loss, as he was predeceased by his first wife Jean Sprague who passed away in 1997.  Together they built a home and raised 3 children, Jennifer Haddad and twins Jeremy and Tyler Sprague. His strength and resilience in the face of such a loss were an inspiration to all who knew him.  His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kayla Haddad and Connor Sprague. Kim's siblings, sister Karen LaTerra and brother Richie LaTerra, will fondly remember their brother's unwavering support and love.

Kim was the proud owner of Sprague Logging for over 50 years. His dedication to the industry was evident in the growth of his business, which included three sawmills and a multitude of equipment, selectively harvesting wood lots in Connecticut and Massachusetts. His work left an indelible mark on the logging community and provided a valuable resource to the area.

As we bid farewell to Kim, we are reminded of the profound impact one individual can have on the world around them. He was always there to lend a helping hand or console those in need of a friend. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his stories will echo through the generations, a testament to a life well-lived.

Kim's life will be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends, and his presence will be dearly missed. Though we mourn his passing, we also honor the remarkable man he was and the countless ways in which he enriched our lives. Rest in peace, Kim; your legacy endures.
