Thomas E. Rogers

August 22, 1933 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old


Thomas E. Rogers, 84, of Storrs, CT died at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Zeeland, Michigan to parents Malcolm B. Rogers & Sylvia Caldie Rogers.

He graduated from Meriden High School and retired from the Food Services Management at the University of Connecticut after more than 30 years.

Tom was a member of the Storrs Congregational Church for over 40 years, past President of the Mansfield Senior Center Association, past President of the Willimantic Rotary and Paul Harris Fellow/Rotary International Major Donor. Tom was a previous Assistant Boy Scout Leader – Troop 56. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother Col. Richard Caldie Rogers. Tom is survived by his wife Joan Hollings Rogers; son Paul Thomas Rogers and his wife Lena Rogers; son Richard Arthur Rogers and his wife Maureen Rogers; four grandchildren Kaylyn, Erik, Taylor and Morgan and many other family and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Dardick, Dr. Bundy, the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Windham, and the hospice nurse, and aides who helped care for him, Sherri and Denise.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Willimantic Rotary Foundation at P.O. Box 104, Willimantic, CT 06226.
