Norman R. Prentice

March 26, 1936 ~ May 28, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Norman (Ronny) Prentice, 81 of Eastford, son of the late Norman F. and Ina Prentice, husband of Carlene A. Prentice, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 on the battleship USS Iowa. He later moved to Connecticut where he spent his last 45 years residing in Eastford. Before retiring, he was employed at O&G Industries as a Carpenter Foreman. He attended Christian Life Assembly of God for nearly 50 years and very much enjoyed volunteering his carpentry skills on church missions’ trips. He was an active member of the American Legion.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Curington and her husband Dan, and Lori Cote; three sisters, Ruth Watrous and her husband Glen, Naomi Stauffer and her husband Sam and Grace McDougall and her husband Don. He had eight grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Barry Prentice. His family will receive relatives and friends at Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic, Connecticut on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at Christian Life Assembly in Willimantic, Connecticut on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A Committal service with military honors will be 2:30 p.m. at the Eastford Grove Cemetery (Rte. 198) Eastford Rd.
