Matilda K. (Kamarauskas) Kramer

 Matilda (Millie) K. Kramer (née Kamarauskus) died peacefully in Storrs, CT on October 20, 2016 at the age of 97.  Matilda was born on November 30, 1918 in Tarrifville, CT.  The family moved to Granby CT where her father had a vegetable and dairy farm. She graduated from Simsbury High School in 1935. Shortly after graduation she started working as an administrative assistant for the Kingswood School in Simsbury CT, then Powers Chevrolet in Granby CT and Connecticut General Insurance Company in Bloomfield CT. After moving to Storrs Ct in 1970, Millie was able to travel extensively through North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.  When she wasn’t traveling she was passionate about quilting, knitting and of course her bridge game. She enjoyed her life on the UCONN campus and attended many sporting and cultural events. She was an active member of the Storrs Congregational Church and attended and volunteered at many of their events.  Matilda is survived by her sons, Harold E. DesChamps of Matthews, North Carolina, Robert A. Powers III of Lee, New Hampshire, and Richard A. Powers of West Palm Beach, Florida and several grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband’s, Everett DesChamps, Robert A. Powers Jr, Edwin Singsen and Joseph Kramer.  The family would like to thank the staff of Juniper Hill Assisted Living and Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehab for their care and dedication.  There are no calling hours.  Her funeral service will be held Thursday October 27, 2016 at 11:00am at the Storrs Congregational Church, 2 North Eagleville Rd.
