Madelyn Jean Thompson, 87, of Storrs, died Sunday, March 26, 2017. She was the daughter of Rufus Rood and Lennie (Wilson) Rood of Willimantic. Madelyn was born in Willimantic on November 20, 1929. She graduated from Windham High School in 1947. She was employed at The Chronicle Newspaper, when it was on Church St in Willimantic, from 1947 to 1954. Madelyn then continued her work at the family Vegetable Stand and Christmas Tree Farm in Storrs with her husband for over 60 years. In addition to her husband, of 67 years, Maurice Thompson of Storrs, she is survived by a son Eldon Thompson, a daughter Cathy Brierley and her husband Ken of Storrs, a son Andy Thompson and his fiance' Cynthia Crowley of Chaplin; granddaughter Sara (Brierley) Arteaga and her husband Francisco of Danbury; grandson Daniel Brierley and his wife Kristen of Ashford. Madelyn was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn and Caroline, and her brothers Frank, Jr. and James. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
