"Mac" Douglas Stuart MacFadyen, 86, of Lebanon, CT passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 10, 2017. Mac was born at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT on March 22, 1930, son of William MacFadyen and Flora Lyman of Hartford, and the stepson of Leon Douglass of Rocky Hill, and brother of Richard MacFadyen (deceased).

Mac is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mei Mey MacFadyen, son Shane and his wife Meta Khin, and sister-in-law Tamar MacFadyen.

Mac proudly served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as Sonar Technician 1st Class. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

After the Navy, Mac moved to Connecticut where he worked as an Inspector at Brand-Rex for 14 years before retiring. He was a life member of the VFW Willimantic and the American Legion Coventry.

Along with spending time with friends and family, he enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Country Music and listening to Red Sox games on the AM radio in the driveway with a beer.

In honor of his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.  There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at the Willimantic VFW Hall at 1415 Main St, Willimantic, CT 06226.  We hope friends and family will gather to swap stories about a man that was loved and respected by many.  So if Mac inspired, motivated or just made you laugh, please join us on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Operation First Response, www.operationfirstresponse.org; DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust, http://cst.dav.org/; or a Veteran/Military charity of your choice.
