M. John Benning, 68, of Colchester, CT died surrounded by loving family and friends October 17, 2017 at Hartford Hospital as a result of congestive heart failure.
John was employed by Sherwin Williams at various Connecticut stores for over 30 years, retiring in 2008 and took pride in matching colors by eye long before computers took over. He was an avid woodworker and motorcyclist. He also loved music.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia (Tessman) and daughter Melany Benning, her signifiant other Thomas Doyker, daughter Dawn Attardo, her husband Brian, as well as cousins in Pennsylvania, and his beloved cats, Boots and Mello. He was predeceased by his parents, Malcom and Eleanor Benning.

The family will receive friends and relatives, Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT.
