Leonard G. Vertefeuille Jr., 83, of Willimantic, husband of Edith (Taylor) Vertefeuille, died Friday August 19, 2016 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.  He was born in Willimantic, the son of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Morrison) Vertefeuille Sr. Leonard served in the United States Navy for four years and was a member of the Elks, VFW and the American Legion.  He worked at Electro Motive, Electric Boat and University of Connecticut.  Leonard loved being with his family and his dog’s Otis and Lucas.  He enjoyed being outdoors; fishing, riding his motorcycle and being at his cabin in Vermont.  In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Leonard Vertefeuille III and his wife Lisa; two daughters Debra Mather and Lianne Larrow; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother Leo Vertefeuille and a sister Shirley Gasper.  Leonard’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 25, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, with assembly at church.  Burial to follow at New Willimantic Cemetery, Willimantic.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregart St., Alexandria, VA 22311.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
