Welcome to the memorial page for

Kathy A. (Jordan) Pekarovic

September 15, 1953 ~ November 30, 2016 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Our beloved Kathy A. Pekarovic, 63, of Windham, CT passed away peacefully at home with the comfort of her loving family by her side on November 30, 2016. Born September 15, 1953 Kathy was the daughter of the late William H. and Jane L. Jordan of Storrs, CT.

To her family, Kathy was known as Mamma. She was the foundation of strength that held her family together, and they were her first and foremost love. Her loving husband Vic always kept a campfire that she loved and enjoyed so much roaring on a Friday night to share with her family and for anyone else who wished to stop by. Her happiest of places was spending time at Rocky Neck; whether it was camping or just some toes in the sand with her grandchildren, her favorite little people. Mamma’s holidays and family gatherings will never be out done. She filled us with food, laughter and love, with memories to last for generations to come. And as for the cupcakes, they spoke for themselves.

Although Kathy graduated from E.O Smith High School, her blood bled maroon and blue for the Windham High School Whippets. She began her career 29 years ago in Windham Public Schools as a paraprofessional at North Windham Elementary School. Shortly thereafter, she found her calling at Windham High School as the coordinator of the Young Parents Program where she helped shape and mold young teenage mothers into amazing young women. She loved each and every one as if they were her own. In addition to this, Kathy impacted the entire school community as a Cheerleading Coach, a Class Advisor and as the Student Activities Coordinator. If there was ever a need locally, nationally or even worldwide, Kathy was on the front line willing to help. Kathy, known to the school as Ms. P, showed her school spirit like no other, especially when she became the Whippet Wizard.

Along with her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Victor Pekarovic, Kathy is survived by her cherished daughters, Kristin Pekarovic-Tefft of South Windham, and Heather Pekarovic and Danny DeJesus of Columbia, and her four little best friends, Caitlyn, Caleb, Gracie and Liam. She also leaves behind her sister, Robin Jordan-Heath and “number one son” Nate Naumec of Chaplin and her brother, Chip Jordan and his wife Ann of Storrs along with their two children, Amanda Babcock (husband Rob Babcock) of Vernon and Jacob Jordan (fiancée Jenna Lankford) of Storrs. Kathy was also a proud aunt to many other nieces and nephews, especially those of the Pekarovic family. Kathy’s longtime close friend Julie LaCasse, will miss her dearly.

Her family would like to thank the outpouring of love and support which they have received. To the staff at Windham General Surgery, Windham Hospital, Hartford Hospital and HHC at Home Hospice, Kathy couldn’t say enough thoughtful and kind words about you all. A special thank you to Dr. Leszek Kolodziejczak, Dr. Frank Siracusa and Dr. Mark Dailey.

Memorial services will be private. A reception to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the, WHS Kathy Pekarovic Memorial Scholarship. Please send donations to Windham High School, Attn: School Bank, 355 High Street, Willimantic, CT 06226.
