Joseph Edward Lamborghini

May 4, 1958 ~ July 4, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Joseph Edward Lamborghini, Jr., 59, of North Windham, CT, passed away at home on July 4th.  Joseph was born on May 4, 1958 in Brookline, Massachusetts.  Best remembered for his charismatic twinkle and his stubbornness, Joseph suffered from COPD and lung cancer.  Joe made lasting friends wherever he lived, from the Florida Keys to Hilton Head to Connecticut, his indomitable spirit indelibly impacting every life he touched.  Joe was mechanically and creatively gifted and seemed to have a nose for the precarious.  He can be remembered for climbing up ladders or trees or scaffolding to absurd heights without a safety rope, usually to help out a friend. As a young man he certainly gave his parents a run for their money, but it was impossible not to love him.  At 18 months he climbed into a neighborhood house under construction and fell into the basement, sustaining not a scratch.  In the same neighborhood he enjoyed throwing pebbles down an artesian well, his father’s wallet didn’t fare so well.  It is no surprise that he made his livelihood in the construction industry as his own boss, running a painting and contracting business.  Joe's carefree and genuine nature had a special place in the heart of all he knew, especially his nieces and nephews. He always had at the ready a story of life on the edge.  Joe lost his mother seven years ago and his father last November.  In his father's waning years the two developed an unparalleled friendship understood by only them.  His father is resting comfortably now knowing that his son is finally safe, in the arms of the Lord.  Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Louise Marie Larson Lamborghini and Joseph Edward Lamborghini Sr. He leaves behind his son David Johnson and grandson Christopher Johnson of AZ; daughter Amanda Lytle of NC; sisters and spouses Lisa Lamborghini and Ken LaFrance of MA, Ann and Michael Lane of NH and Amy and Frank Blakeslee of CT; nephews Robert and Joseph Lane; nieces Margaret Lane, Lillian, Emilia and Helen Blakeslee; and very dear comrades Eric Van Wegen, Neal “Dewey” Cochran and George “Andy” Kish.  Joseph will be interred in November at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth, Massachusetts. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Willimantic, CT on July 15th at 3pm.
