Jonella Izzo Corpus, 69, of Coventry, CT passed away quietly in her sleep with her husband at her side on June 16, 2017 after a long illness.  She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Ella (Anton) Izzo.  She graduated Magna cum laude from Duquesne University and later received her Masters from Central Connecticut State University.  She had been employed by the University of Connecticut and the Capitol Region Education Council.  Jonella enjoyed many interests, among them writing, research, literature, genealogy, decorating and caring for her beloved Afghan hounds.  She was an avid textile enthusiast and enjoyed weaving, knitting and embroidering.  Since childhood Jonella was an avid lover of nature, bird watching, and gardening.  She always felt she came by her love of the land through her association with her maternal grandfather who had been a farmer in Slovakia.  She was a past member of the Hand Weavers Guild of Ct. as well as the Nutmeg Afghan Hound Club. For many years she was a member of the Thoreau Society and served as a board member of Walden Forever Wild.  Jonella enjoyed meeting friends at summer annual meetings in Concord.  She is survived by her husband Santos Corpus, son Justin Corpus, his wife Minerva, and grandson Dominic Corpus of Las Cruces, New Mexico.  She also leaves many wonderful friends who, along with her family, were always a source of joy, comfort and support. It was Jonella’s expressed desire that in her memory, those who are interested, do something fun or creative that she would enjoy.

Interment will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family. To sign the online memorial guestbook, please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com
