Henry T. Monast

Henry Theodore Monast Jr, 88 of Willimantic, died March 13, 2018 at Windham Hospital. He was born November 3,1929 in Willimantic. The son of the late Theodore and Sophie (Duda) Monast. Henry lived in Willimantic most of his life, he attended St Joseph School and Windham High School class of 1948. Henry also attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Henry served in the US Army Infantry until the rank of Sergeant First Class. He worked for the Willimantic Police Dept from 1956 to 1960. He also worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years. Henry was Superintendent of Postal Operations in Manchester prior to retiring in 1992. He was a Life member of the Elks Lodge1311, and the Disabled American Veterans. Henry is survived by his daughter, Valerie and Peter Connell of Hampton CT; grandsons, Peter M. Connell and Kristopher T Connell both of Hampton CT; sister, Claire Doyle and niece, Lisa Monast. He was predeceased by brother, John Gary Monast. The Family would like to thank Dr. Te Gigi, and Joyce for their special care allowing him the quality of life. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte195) Willimantic, CT. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00am. There will be a private burial at a later date.
