Eva Elaine Tracy Goeken, 93, passed away on April 22, 2018, at St. Joseph's Living Center in Windham, CT. She was born on February 16, 1925 in Springfield, MA to the late Peter and Eva Nilan Tracy. Eva grew up in Willimantic, CT. She graduated from Windham High School and worked as a secretary in the Procurement Department at the Pentagon. In 1946, she married William Franklin Goeken. She traveled throughout the world with Bill living with him on various military assignments, including Japan, England and Alaska. Eva volunteered as a substitute teacher and dental assistant with the Officers' Wives Club while her husband was on active duty with the USAF. Among her hobbies, she was an avid reader and gardener, something she could do while her husband was serving.
Eva is survived by her children: William J. Goeken and wife, Becky; Robert M. Goeken; Jeffrey T. Goeken; Patricia A. Eggimann and her husband, Peter; and Kara A. Goeken; her brother, Alfred, his wife, Ann and her sister, Janet Harrington and her husband, Patrick.
She is preceded in death by her husband, retired L. Colonel William F. Goeken; brothers, John, James, Peter, Fredrick and George and sisters, Jeanette Tracy, Marie Martin, Margaret Sullivan and Ruth Blake.
The family will receive relatives and friends for calling hours Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Friday, April 27, 2018 at St Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
