Welcome to the memorial page for

Ellen M. (Moran) Noheimer

July 28, 1954 ~ October 14, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Ellen (Moran) Noheimer died peacefully in Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her family on October 14, 2017 at the age of 63.

She was born on July 28, 1954 in Willimantic, CT and was a graduate of Windham High School. Ellen married Jack, her high school sweetheart, and they recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. Sports dominated their family life throughout the years. Ellen put her high school cheer leader experience to good use as she cheered her “boys” in hockey, wrestling, and baseball and then more recently with her grandchildren’s sports endeavors. Even in her last days, she was an essential contributor to the work for the J.P. Ossen Family Foundation. Her family remembers Ellen as a kind, giving and gentle woman who encouraged everyone to be compassionate.

She held a special place in her heart for being by the water, beginning with her childhood at the shore in Narragansett. She later enjoyed time on Shadow Lake in VT and Wells Beach, ME.  Ellen never missed an opportunity to play cards with her family, winning pennies to dollars from them, and could be trusted to toast that winning accomplishment with a glass of wine. She was a generous individual who was passionate about connections with loved ones, keeping company with her friends, helping others, the sound of laughter, and folded potato chips.

Ellen is survived by her husband, John “Jack” Noheimer of Columbia, CT; sons, John (wife Carrie) Noheimer, and Christopher (wife Arlene) Noheimer of Mansfield Center, CT; siblings, Linda (husband Spencer) Adams, Susan (husband Walter) Goettlich, Edward (wife Lynn) Moran, her cherished twin sister, Eileen Ossen and Robert (wife Janet) Moran; four beautiful grandchildren who were held dearly in her heart, Emma, Owen, Dustin and Olivia Noheimer as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Edward “Red” and Catherine “Kay” Moran of Willimantic, CT.

Ellen requested that family and friends remember her by actively celebrating life and enjoying each other. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department 167 Route 66, P.O. Box 26, Columbia, CT. Ellen’s family gratefully thanks the CVFD for their responsive medical care. The family would also like to thank the dedicated Yale Hospital staff, especially, Dr. Antin-Ozerkis, for their medical astuteness, compassion and when needed, tears.
