Donald Joseph Cox, 84, of Windham, passed away peacefully February 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. Donald leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (Canning) Cox of Windham. Donald and Mary have four children whom he loved; Maureen G. Stimpson of Cumberland, RI, Mary Ellen Zlotnick and husband Paul Zlotnick of Ashford, CT, Erin M. Cox and Christian Barth of Milford , CT, and Sean P. Cox and his wife Katherine (McCarthy) Cox of Columbia, CT; Donald loved his ten grandchildren. He took great interest in their activities. Sarah McKay, New London, David McKay, Ashford, Mary Kate Stimpson and Anya Stimpson, Cumberland, RI. Kristine Zlotnick and John Paul Zlotnick, Ashford, Patrick Cox, Manchester, Olivia Cox and Allison Cox, Columbia, and Catherine Barth of Milford.  Donald was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI. He was the son of the late Edward P.  and Grace (McCurdy) Cox. Donald was the brother of the late Edward Cox of Tolland, He leaves his brother William Cox of Arizona and sister Anne Marie McCann of Portsmouth, RI.  Donald graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1958 with a BS degree in textile chemistry. He began his career at Brand Rex Corp in 1962. Don worked as a chemist in research /development and sales of synthetic materials and fabrics. He retired in 1994 from RUCO Polymer, Hicksville, NY.  Donald was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic for 55 years.  He was a member of WCC and really enjoyed golf. Don loved everything about the ocean, sailing, swimming, and fishing especially at Cape Cod. Don enjoyed his Golden Retrievers, gardening, music and his artwork. He will be remembered for his devout faith and love of family. The family of Donald Cox is appreciative of the wonderful care he received at Marlborough Health Center.

Donald’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday February 16, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, at 11:00am meeting at church.  Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
