Beatrice Belle Spencer

Beatrice “Belle” Spencer, 93, of Chaplin, wife of the late Leroy D. Spencer died Thursday October 20, 2016 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born October 18, 1923 the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Hocking) Clark.  Belle was an active member of the Chaplin Congregational Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the piano and volunteering for various activities with the church’s women’s fellowship. She worked as a Homemaker Health Aid and cared deeply for her clients. She was a devoted homemaker for her Husband and Children.  Belle was known by all who knew her as a very generous and kind women. She enjoyed donating to many charities not only monetarily but also with her time.  Belle was loved by all, missed by many.

Belle is survived by a son Clark Spencer and his wife Judy; two daughters Elizabeth A. Joslyn and her husband Jim and Carol S. Kroll; two granddaughters Lisa Carabino and her husband Jarred and Trine Kroll; and two Great granddaughters Faith and Bella Carabino; sister in law Liz Clark. She was predeceased by a son David Spencer; siblings Robert Clark and Elizabeth Kast; grandsons Brent Spencer and Joshua Perreault.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care and compassion.

Belle’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday October 24, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 11:00am at the Chaplin Congregational Church, 43 Chaplin St., Chaplin, CT.  The burial will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut, 200 Executive Blvd., suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.  Belle’s belief was that flowers are for the living.
